Langley Park Road / Cedar Road junction

Proposed pedestrian refuge islands

The Council proposes to install two pedestrian refuges in Langley Park Road - one on either side of the junction with Cedar Road - to help pedestrians cross the road more safely.  The proposed measure has been developed in response to safety concerns raised by local residents, parents of children attending schools in the area and local councillors.

The proposed refuge islands will have an impact on 7 existing parking bays, and in order to offset that impact, 6 new parking bays will be provided in the immediate area (approximately 100m away), resulting in an overall loss of one bay.

Other planned improvement works in the area are:

  • To widen the pavement under the railway bridge in Langley Park Road to make it easier for people to use. This is subject to consultation with Network Rail and being able to undertake roadworks near the bridge.

  • To reduce the speed limit of the section of Langley Park Road between the A232, Carshalton Road, and the railway bridge from 30mph to 20mph.
