MINUTES OF THE SSNA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Monday 12th May, 2025 held 2.00pm at Christ Church

-
1. Apologies: Steve Morton, Maureen Cronin, Sheila Collis, Margaret Golding, Geoff West, John Mitchell, Sandra Berkovi, Penny Pemberton, Hannah Witkowska
-
2. Minutes of AGM held on 13th May, 2024: agreed
-
3. 2024 Accounts: See separate sheet. The final grant of £2500 from Subsea 7 is included as income. The grant has been used to try to widen the membership in the north part of South Sutton. Some monies from Paypal have not been transferred yet.
The costs for producing the newsletter have remained fairly stable with increased numbers of members moving to receiving the newsletter by email.

Jack Hamilton had managed the recycling for the local authority for a number of years and gave this money to finance the SSNA until the recycling was taken back in house. This meant
that 14 years ago the finances were in a precarious state. However, the finances have settled down over the last ten years.

4. 2024 Annual Report: See separate sheet. The issues and concerns remain the same as those that featured last year. The association needs to be non-political and report on the local concerns thus keeping the membership up to date on local issues. Most recently these issues have included the changes in parking rules, the plans for the B&Q site, the intended move of the Civic Offices to the St Nicholas Centre, The Cancer Hub and transport changes for the Belmont-Sutton railway and the 40mph speed limit proposed for “The Mad Mile” section of the A217 as well as articles examining the area’s local history and natural history.
Once again grateful thanks are due to Ann Morton for the production of the Newsletter and to Steve Morton for looking after the SSNA website he created.

5. Election of committee members: agreed with no new applicants.

The meeting was followed by a much appreciated cream tea and a welcome opportunity to socialize.
